Vintage Photographs of Coney Island In Its Heyday

Coney Island was always a popular destination that New Yorkers went to in order to escape the heat of their city. Between 1887 and 1904, a series of amusement parks were constructed on the island for the visiting crowds to enjoy. Just as it is now, Coney Island was home to rides, roller coasters, Ferris wheels, sideshows, circuses, carnivals, concerts, and fireworks. Take a walk back in time and visit the island at the turn of the 20th century in the images below:
