Wooden furniture has been decorating houses for thousands of years, giving each space a cozy and warm look. In order to preserve your wooden furniture, it is important to treat it properly, by coating it in a special wax that will help protect it. These 2 simple guides will help you restore your furniture and make it shine again using just a few ingredients.
Today there are many products on the market designed to clean furniture and renew their appearance, but most of them contain substances that spread in the air when sprayed. We and our family members breath in these components which can cause health problems and are absolutely not recommended for internal ingestion!. With the next "recipe" for furniture wax, you’ll learn to make homemade versions of industrial wax quickly and simply. All you need is beeswax and other natural additions that can be bought at health stores. This wax can be used not only to polish furniture but wooden dishes as well!
* If your furniture has deep scratches or blemishes, it is recommended to gently wipe them before applying the wax to achieve optimum results and a great shine.
Ingredients:
50 g of refined coconut oil (liquid, compared to ordinary coconut oil which is solid at room temperature)
10 grams beeswax
Preparation:
1. Put the ingredients into a small pot and place it over a low-medium flame.
2. Melt the wax and coconut oil together for a uniform, creamy texture.
3. Pour the mixture into a glass jar and use when needed.
1. Clean the wooden surfaces thoroughly and then apply the wax with a fine cotton cloth. Allow the first layer to dry for 15 minutes and then apply a second layer.
2. Allow the wood to rest uninterrupted for several hours before use (especially wooden dishes)
The next version will teach you how to make a furniture wax with olive oil and essential oils which will give your furniture a wonderful smell.
Ingredients:
150g (⅔ cup) beeswax
600 g (3 cups) olive oil
30 drops and vitamin E
10 drops of essential oil (of your choice)
Preparation:
1. Place a small pot in a large pot filled with boiling water to the bottom of the small pot (Ban-Marie).
2. Put the olive oil and beeswax in the small pot and melt them together over medium heat. Once the ingredients are completely dissolved, mix them gently and add the vitamin E and essential oil. Mix gently and pour into a jar for safekeeping.
How to use:
1. Clean the wooden surfaces thoroughly, and then apply the wax with a fine cotton cloth. Allow the first layer to dry for 15 minutes and apply a second layer.
2. Apply the wax evenly until the surfaces brighten and allow them to rest uninterrupted for several hours before use (wooden dishes especially).
